Eli's Kitchen

Eli's is a very historical building located on the north side of the square and built in 1904. It was once Pelton's grocery store and after Gunner's pizza. The building itself is owned by the Morning Star Lodge. It rents out Eli's and next store Marie's. They also rent out the top floor as well. This building is a historical landmark that should forever be conserved on the historical square of Medina.

Eli's will forever hold a near and dear place in my heart. It is a place that I come too on Saturday mornings with my very close friends. I always order the same thing and sit in the same booth. It is a place Thai someday hope to bring my kids and the share the memories I made with my friends there.

North Side of the Square

North Side of the Square

In the back of this picture we can see the where the present Eli's Kitchen is now located. You can picture it now almost like a parade on the square. While shopping at the local market, Peltons, you would look out the shops window and see the parade as it passed by. Image Courtesy of Medina County Historical Society View File Details Page

Eli's on fire

Eli's on fire

In 1916 the Morning Star Building caught fire. Too this day the building still stands and wasn't completely burnt down. Just thinking now what would the square be with out the long fellow building if it would have completely burnt downz The square would could be totally different and maybe now Eli's wouldn't be here today. This is a picture of the current IOOF building and how it stands today. Back in the 1930s 40s 50s and 60s this was a thriving grocery store owned and operated by Dan Pelton. This was a place where the people of Medina pretty much did all of their grocery shopping. It was just about the only place to go. Image Courtesy of Hailey DeFraine View File Details Page

The North Side of the Square Today

The North Side of the Square Today

This is the current picture of the north side of the square. It is different from the 1900s but the history of the is still alive too the day. I had the chance to speak to one of the waitresses at Eli's. her name was Luba, she has worked at Eli's for five years now. One of her memories of working at Eli's was having the chance to serve Dick Goddard. Image Courtesy of Hailey DeFraine View File Details Page
